MYTHS ABOUT ASTROLOGY
What are the astrology myths that have been busted?
There are many myths which are not exactly
mentioned in the classics, but have been spread from person to person from many
years.
1. Mangal Dosha or
Kuja Dosha (Manglik)
Traditional texts
have mention that Mangal Dosha is formed When Kuja (Mars) is placed in the 2nd ,4th ,7th ,8th and 12th houses from ascendant or Chandra. It is
mentioned in some texts and commentaries given by earlier astrologers that when
Mars is placed in the 5th from the ascendant or the Chandra also then Mangal
Dosha is formed.
Now many have
understood and come in terms with the concept of Mangal Dosha. The dosha in its
entirety cannot be taken as a malefic placement, but, the intricacies have to
be studied and understood.
Mars gives
confidence and logical thinking. This, if found in a modern chart of a female,
is now-a-days considered good. This is because most of the grooms wish to have
a career oriented spouse as their life partner. This has changed the way we
should analyze this dosha.
After analysis of
the different positions of Mars, very less placements are to be taken seriously
in these times of satellite family systems. The concept of joint family system
has dried up and nuclear families have multiplied. In these nuclear families,
the home maker the woman has to be strong willed and minded to support her
husband both financially and emotionally. For this Mars is required to be placed
in certain houses which was earlier considered Manglik. In the present scenario
it becomes a bala (strength) and can be called Kuja Bala (Strength of Mars).
The dosha of Mars
makes the person sharp tongued, frank in opinion and aggressive.
There are a few
instances when the native does not fear to cross ethical boundaries due to the
malefic strength of Mars (if it is malefically afflicted) which makes the
native take illogical decisions.
Hence a profound
study has to be done before arriving at conclusions.
This is a very
important Myth which is busted, but many still believe in the Dosha.
2. Kalasarpa Yoga
or Kalasarpa dosha
The name Kalasarpa
in the astrological study means the clockwise arc between the rahu and ketu,
inclusive of rahu and ketu degree points.
Most of it is a
myth since the term Kalasarpa Dosha or Kalasarpa Yoga has not been discussed in
Classics. Although, many ancient scholars have discussed about this subject
in-depth.
There are many
variations of Kalasarpa, I have deliberated a few below :-
1. If all planets
are situated between Rahu and Ketu including the Ascendant
2. If all planets
are situated between Rahu and Ketu excluding the Ascendant
3. If all the
planets are situated between Rahu and Ketu but one or two planets are conjunct
with Rahu or Ketu
4. If all the
planets are posited between Ketu and Rahu and as above condition.
Horoscope with any
of the above said conditions is said to have KSY.
After a lot of
study and analysis, the natives with Kalasarpa Yoga do not have to fear dire consequences,
since the negative effects of this yoga have been hyped.
KSY gives good
effects depending on the position of planets. It can confer High Status,
Financial Prosperity and Luxuries.
Dr. B.V Raman, in
his book of "Three Hundred Important Combinations" has requested the
general public to change their perspective towards this yoga and relax their
mindsets and not to fall prey to faulty astrologers who inculcate fear into
their clients and force them pay large sums of money towards performing poojas
and homas.
To conclude, let us put it this way, "there is no such yoga, and
still if there is one, it is not that negative".

IMPORTANCE OF 7TH HOUSE AND MARRIAGE MATCHING
How do you find out- how tall your future spouse is going to be through your Kundali?
Planets like Saturn, Mercury, Sun and Jupiter tend to be tall and if the ascendant is influenced by these planets the native will tend to be tall.
The Nakshatra (Constellation) in which the ascendant falls and the ascendant lord falls is also to be considered and as per the stellar significations one has to consider the height of the native.
If the ascendant is afflicted or weak then one should understand that the native has had a weak childhood and hence due to under nourishment would have a weak physic and hence the height would also not be as expected.
Most of the times the height of a native depends on the geographical area his community belongs from and mostly on his parents.
This has to be considered before predictions as the Desha (the place in consideration), Kala (the Era) and Varthamana (the present time) has to be understood before practicing astrology.
Is the matching of Kundali necessary before marriage?
Matching of kundali is not always necessary before marriage. As an astrologer, I feel that only in certain horoscopes wherein the 7th house or the 7th lord is malefically posited, or the 7th lord is weak or the 7th house does not have good sarvashtaka points, also when the native is going through a malefic dasha (tough time) like Saturn Rahu, Rahu Jupiter or Mercury Rahu at the marriageable age then the prospects coming for the marriage at that period would not be that great. Only because of these aspects, astrologers recommend that the match has to be done. So that the risk and the stress in the upcoming marriage comes down and you would get married to a better person.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My
father's life in the horoscope is 67 years. He is 66 now and completely fit and
fine. So, should I believe in horoscope? Are horoscopes true?
Who gave you that number?
As I know no
astrologer gives prediction on longevity as it is not an easy task.
What is the use in
knowing one’s longevity? The quality of life is more important than the
longevity of a native.
You do not have to worry about the number and discard the same and live
free of it.
How can one get a government job through an astrological combination?
Usually for a person to get into a government job there should be a good sustainable stable dasha bhukti in the chart.
Secondly the person should have a standard income yoga in the chart. These things will not be proclaimed in the chart as a big Raj yoga. There are many charts with normal yogas like the kendrasthanadhipati (4th, 7th or the 10th lord) sitting in the 2nd house or the 5th lord posited in the 2nd house or the 9th lord sitting in the 2nd house. The above mentioned combinations are good dhana yogas which will give stable income to the native.
With these yogas or combinations, if the native has a strong Sun or Jupiter posited in the 6th or 4th or in the 10th or even in the 7th house, the native will have a good chance to get into a government job.
In many cases, when the 10th lord is conjunct with Sun and has a benefic aspect of Jupiter, chances are very high to get into government sector.
If the 10th lord is along with the slow moving planet or along with Sun, there is a very good chance for a person to get into a government service.
I always have a confusion regarding astrology predictions, karma and manifestation. It is said we manifest our lives and also karma has impact on our lives so where does astrology stand here. What among the three has more significance in one's life?
This question pertains to the proportion of Freewill, Fate and Destiny of a person. Here Freewill is Purushartha
Fate is the prabadha and
Destiny is the Moksha where the person will reach in his life.
Here the fate is not always fixed i.e. the prarabdha karma has 2 parts dhridha karma and the other one is adhridha karma.
Dhridha karma means fixed path of life or fixed limitations of that particular person.
Adhridha karma means the karmas or actions which are flexible and which depend upon the way a person thinks and acts in this life. Here freewill plays a very important role in shaping the adhridha karma.
Most part of our thought processes are nothing but our yearnings to find the correct path for our life. These yearnings come from inside which we call as gut feelings or passion or dreams. All these put together is known as inspiration which happens internally i.e. within one’s sub conscious mind. To control this sub conscious mind and channelize it properly earlier days (1000s of years old) people use to practice meditation, yoga, chanting mantras/vedas, etc.
Living a satvik life, practicing right discipline, walking on the right ethical path of life would actually give us good thoughts and promote our life through a better path because adhridha karma plays a very important role in deciding how happy we are in what we are doing in our life.
What are the mutual effects of Mars in the first house with Venus and the Moon in the 7th house for a Libra ascendant?
Here Venus & Mars both have exchanged houses i.e. parivatana yoga has happened,
Venus being the lord of ascendant Libra and Mars being the lord of 7th house i.e. Aries have exchanged signs and are placed in the opposite signs. This particular parivartana yoga is considered one of the best yogas for acquiring wealth, getting into good business and other material accomplishments.
Moon here is the 10th lord along with Venus in the 7th house gives rise to a very strong Raj Yoga with regard to professional success.
SATURN AND ITS IMPLICATIONS
Does marriage always gets delayed due to 7th Saturn?
Saturn is a slow moving planet as it takes 2 1/2 years to transit over one sign. Moon on the other hand is the fastest as it takes only 2 1/2 days to transit over one sign.
This nature of Saturn has given its name Manda or Shani which in english language equivalent to being Slow.
Saturn if present in the 7th house and if that house falls in a fixed sign then there would be delay in the marriage. The timing of marriage does not only depend on Saturn’s position in the 7th house, but many other factors.
Saturn will cause delay but will never deny. The native will get married, but after a considerable delay.
If Saturn is malefically disposed in the 7th house, the native might go through bad experiences with regard to marriage. The native may also fall into depression.
If Saturn is retrograde and is aspected or associated by a fast moving planet like Venus, Mercury or Moon, then there will not be any delay, but the native may get married early.
If Saturn is weakly posited in the 7th house then the placement of Saturn may cause communication problems between the couple, but will not be causing delay, if the 7th lord is well placed.
The role of the 7th lord is very important as it represents the quality of marriage too.
If Saturn is placed in the 7th and it is a movable sign then there should be no delay in the marriage as the native will get married at the right age. Saturn will only define the spouses character.
This is just a basic over view of the placement of Saturn in the 7th. There are many combinations and hence the results may vary depending on the ascendant sign, the 7th lord, the aspect and the planetary period (Dasha).
D1 chart - Saturn in the 7th house (Aquarius) and in D9 chart - Saturn in the 10th house (Capricorn). What does this means?
In both the divisional charts Saturn is posited in its own house which clearly indicates that it is strongly placed and it will influence the native throughout its life.
For Leo Ascendant. Saturn is the 6th & the 7th lord and being posited in marriage can delay marriage but if it is retrograde then the results will differ.
From the 7th house Saturn is aspecting 9th house, lagna and the 4th house. Hence if the Lagna and the lagna lord Sun is not strong or well posited it will create hurdles and delay in one’s life. Moreover, during its dasha or bhukti, father of the native may go through some health problems but will see a positive change in his professional life as from the 9th house (Aries) Saturn is the 10th & the 11th lord posited in the 11th house.
For further analysis, the chart has to be seen in full and then draw conclusions.
What are some effects of having Saturn in the 8th house (Gemini) of a Scorpio ascendant?
Saturn is the 3rd & the 4th lord for Scorpio ascendant and when it is placed in the 8th house in the sign of Gemini it will give good ayu (life span). But for Scorpio lagna Saturn is a malefic planet and when it sits in a dusthana house it becomes more negative. It is not like other planets that when they are negative posited in a negative house will make them weak or less negative. In fact Saturn when placed in a dusthana like 8th house will become stronger than any other placement since it is the karaka for the 8th house.
This placement of Saturn will make the native stubborn with regard to his desires and passion. It will increase his desires and make him obsessive towards his wants. This can be controlled only by practicing satvik living else the native will go astray.
I have Saturn in the 10th house in Taurus ascendant and have problems with my bosses. What are some remedies?
The 10th lord Saturn is posited in the 10th house in the sign of Aquarius which is its own house and has given rise to a very strong Sasa Yoga in this chart. With all that we do not know the position or the placement of the other planets in the chart which is actually very important to know as to how the 10th house is posited. Because only the position of Saturn in the 10th house and a Sasa yoga will not confirm the status of the lagnadhipati or the D-10 lagna which can only be known after the birth details are given.
Overall Saturn in the 10th house is a good position and it should give good development in the profession or career.
Shani is vakri and vargottam in the 10th house in Tula Lagna, but the degree is 01-04. Does Shani give good results?
Saturn is a Yoga karaka planet for Tula/Libra lagna since it is the 4th and the 5th lord. As per the given information, Saturn is placed in the 10th house in the sign of Cancer and is also vargottama.
We need to ensure that it is placed in the 10th house by also seeing the degrees of the ascendant but assuming that it is placed in the 10th house Saturn will give very good results in its dasha bhukti and in its sub dasha.
