Rahu and its influence over a native

Rahu and its influence over a native

Rahu is a sensitive point (Ascending Node), the point of intersection of the orbit of Moon around the Earth and the Sun around the Earth (Ecliptic).  This sensitive point has gained immense importance in the field of Predictive Astrology.

In this article we are only discussing the placement of Rahu in Lagna/Ascendant and its influence on the native's behavioural patterns and situations.

The general characteristics of Rahu with regard to the subject we are about to discuss are: Faulty Logic, Irreligious, Wanders far away from place of birth/stay, Humiliation, Depending on others support for living, Falsehood, Wickedness, Harsh Speech, Confused state, Dirty, Materialistic, etc.

After considerable interaction with people who have Rahu in lagna.  It can be said that some profound characters of Rahu do influence the behavioural pattern of these people.

Most of the natives with Rahu in lagna have accepted that they get confused when they have decisions to make.  This does not make the native fickle minded, but the native gets involved into deciding whether to go this way or that, that the native loses his confidence.

Rahu who has the capacity to mask the native's strength to think will bring down ones concentration.  This is usually seen with regard to children who do not concentrate on studies and often are regarded as dull headed.  These children are surely not dull headed and are very good at practical knowledge, but, due to the presence of Rahu in the lagna, it takes a lot more time for one to get a grip on a subject.

Rahu is also well known for pseudo dignity.  General observation shows that all do not dye their hair once they start becoming grey, but, some make it a ritual and they cannot imagine themselves without it.This pseudo dignity / false image is the influence of Rahu on lagna. People start putting lot of time into trimming their tummies, applying makeup, do anything to look younger and in the process sometimes look very odd. They become soo stubborn that they do not heed to any of their friends or family members who keep telling them that they look odd.

Rahu like mars gives aggressiveness and falsehood.  The native succumbs to its pressure and resorts to telling lies and gets things done using unethical practices.

Rahu also influences the native with its obsessive characteristics. Sometimes this is positive if the obsession is creative and developmental, but, the same if is detrimental, the native will suffer from many disorders.  Rahu imbibes desire into the native and does not rest till it is accomplished. A negative / unrealistic desire may put the native into a lot of intangible knots.

All the above compulsions may result in a person's humiliation in society and may lead to a lot of emotional conflicts, legal battles, etc.

Due to the confused state of affairs, the native may resort to unethical means to satisfy himself. The native may resort to bullying, debate and sometimes get into physical conflicts.

Rahu makes the native lose his stand in his own place/country.  This sometimes results in the native getting a chance abroad.  Though going abroad is regarded as a boon these days, one has to suffer living alone far away from his family and loved ones.  Has to eat food prepared in hotels or road sides.  In reality the native is in exile from his motherland and goes through a lot of anxious moments.

It is seen from my practice that most of the cases wherein the person has consulted an astrologer for the first time in his life, is when the native is running through the major/minor periods (dasas) of Rahu, wherein Rahu is influencing the lagna or the lagna lord.

Since this is a very elaborate subject I think one article will not suffice the topic and I hope to write more.

Positive Perception

Positive Perception

Human being learns very fast and starts making adjustments with the way he reacts and responds to this outer world. In this process he starts to build an inner world of himself.  He does everything in his capacity to keep this inner world satisfied.  This inner world i am talking about is the world filled with Fear, Desire, Lust, Passion, Urge, Cruelty and many other ramifications of the mind. All these identities are to be fed with their required inputs regularly.  If a person forcibly makes any of them starve, they come out and dominate.  They start giving him spasms, just like when a person who stops taking drugs suddenly.

A trained mind can take these things easily and hence, a human being as intelligent he is, starts training his mind to keep up with the outer world and simultaneously with his inner world.  He convinces his inner worldly requirements by giving them assurance of making available the required situation.  He waits for it and then when it is time, he suddenly transforms from a normal social being to a very strange person, who is very different, a person who looks strange and foreign and a person who you cannot relate to.

It is strange but very true a fact that we are all having this problem but, in varied proportions.  We have our wants for our own reasons but we dare to share it to our world outside.  We store them deep in our subconscious.
Many of us have common traits which are innate to us, v.i Fear, Anxiety, Selfishness, Comparing attitude and sort of. These are very common and at times when the situation suddenly changes and goes out of hand we can observe these characters showing up.  The person concerned desperately wants to hide this attitude of his, but, due to the sudden change in the situation, his unpreparedness shows.

These innate characters are those we should be concerned of when analyzing a personality and not the established social identity.

A tough job, but, some good research has been done in this area, wherein, one can ascertain a human beings innate character by following his gesture patterns and by combining them to arrive at a particular trait.

However, this is not perfected, since people have also mastered to portray gestures.  It will be difficult to analyze these professionals who have mastered the art of conning.

However cunning a person is, when he is pushed to his limit, he surely will display his original or shall we say his innate behavior.

Let us take a simple case,
A person while driving meets with a simple accident. He first shouts at the other rider. But, once he realizes that the other is strong physically or he has more support, the language and behavior changes and he becomes submissive. He comes into the mode of compromise from the earlier mode of demand.

This happens to everyone with very little exception.
Then why do we do this.  Why do we show aggressiveness on weaker and submissive people and why do we ourselves become submissive when the table turns?

This case clearly shows that we act depending on the situation we are in and there is no fixed pattern.

Man is trying to understand everything outside and tries to make it suitable for his living, but, never puts his efforts in realizing the type of a person he is and try to change the way he perceives this world.  This one transformation will make a sea change.

He will start perceiving this world very differently.  He will be able to understand each situation by its merits and be more humble in handling it.

The requirement of the hour is to dwell deep into our mind and soul and try to cleanse ourselves. Train our minds to perceive this world from a positive perspective.  The whole world will look beautiful.  All this ugliness of pseudo mannerism will fade away giving way to Innocent Beauty

Transit - Gochara

Transit - Gochara

While casting a horoscope planetary movements are calculated and they placed in particular longitudes for a given time and date of birth.  It's like taking a 360 degree snapshot from the centre of the Zodiac. We know that planets do not stop their journey through their orbit around Sun.  Planets are never stationery and likewise their effects keep varying depending on their angular distance from natal moon (Rasi).

Gochara phala or effects of Transiting planets is analyzed by studying the following points:-

1.    Murthy Nirnaya (Metals):-

Planets are classified under four categories of metal like, Swarna (Gold), Rajatha (Silver), Tamra (Copper) and Loha (Iron), depending on their entry into a rasi while in transit.  This gives an insight into whether the planet is strong to give good results or otherwise.

2.    Progressive Transit Study:-

In this analysis we study a horoscope from its date of birth till date and also for future dates keeping parallel in mind the transit of major planets like, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. This gives us the answer into what situations the native has gone through and how his life is shaped.

3.     Transiting in bhavas:-

Each planet has different bhavas from wherein it gives good results and likewise it also gives adverse results if transiting some bhavas.  There are veda points (points of obstruction) created by other transiting planets which restrict a planet from either conferring good or bad effects to the native.  From analyzing this parameter, one can forecast the present and future prospects of a native.

4.    Timing of an event:-

Events like, education, getting a job, marriage, promotion, transfer, recovering from ailments and much more can be analyzed.

5.    Transit and Nadi Astrology:-

The effects of planets will be analyzed by combining two techniques Transit and Nadi Astrology to get better results in timing of events and intensity of effect.

6.    Astakavarga and Kakshya:-

An intricate study in which a comprehensive study is done with regard to mutual beneficial support of planets using the system of Astakavarga and delineation of transit while a planet is transiting through a particular Kakshya is done.

Overall the study of Transit is regarded as one of the most effective in timing an event and is widely used by many astrologers.  We in Astro Guide apply this system of Transit to the Lagna point and the result has been very accurate.

Case study on Ovarian Cyst

Case study on Ovarian Cyst
 About the illness:

Ovarian Cyst is a pea sized or sometimes more than a tennis ball sized extra growth found in the ovary.  Many women now-a-days are found to have this problem.  A few important symptoms are; irregular periods, heaviness, sharp or dull pain, weight gain and headache.

Cause: There is no particular cause established till date, but the frequency is more seen in women who are in the childbearing period.

Effect: Some women tend to become obese which results in difficulty in day-to-day routine. Infertility is taken as the most important ill effect that is caused due to an ovarian cyst. As natures gift, it is women who are blessed to experience the phenomenon of motherhood. But this being interrupted due to a cyst causes inexplicable emotional pain.

Cure: There are several medications available in both in Allopath and Ayurvedic Medicine.  Often steroids are given to the patient without the making the patient aware. It is important the patient to be aware of the medication being administered.

Yogasana’s like Surya Namaskara, Vajrasana and many more will be beneficial. This case study is to analyze the charts using Astrological Parameters and make students understand its utility in the field of diagnostics.

Planets and their significations (required for this analysis)
1.    Mars         - Blood
2.    Jupiter     - Growth, Expansion

The 5th lord Moon is debilitated and placed in the axis of Rahu/Ketu.  The 8th house is malefically disposed due to the conjunction of Saturn and Mars.  The native is obese. The affliction to the 5th house is very clearly established in this chart, the reason being Ovarian Cyst.

This is a chart of a young school going girl who is suffering from uneven and sharp pains in her abdomen while she undergoes her monthly period.  The periods are also not evenly spaced and are irregular.  This case is a typical case of ovarian cyst in its early stages.

The problem surfaced in the dasa of Rahu/Rahu.

Here Rahu is conjunct with Venus in the lagna and the 5th lord Jupiter is placed in the 8th.  Mars and Saturn both are debilitated.

We can clearly see that the influence of Saturn, Rahu, Mars and Jupiter over Venus and the 5th lord is triggering this problem.  In many cases the cyst will be non malignant.  But its ill effects of making the native obese, infertile and depressive has to be noted.

Kalasarpa Yoga or Kalasarpa dosha

Kalasarpa Yoga or Kalasarpa dosha

The name Kalasarpa in the astrological study means the clockwise arc between the rahu and ketu, inclusive of rahu and ketu degree points.

Most of it is a myth since the term Kalasarpa Dosha or Kalasarpa Yoga has not been discussed in Classics.   Although, many ancient scholars have discussed about this subject in-depth.

There are many variations of Kalasarpa, I have deliberated a few below :-

1.     If all planets are situated between Rahu and Ketu including the Ascendant
2.     If all planets are situated between Rahu and Ketu excluding the Ascendant
3.     If all the planets are situated between Rahu and Ketu but one or two planets are conjunct with Rahu or Ketu
4.     If all the planets are posited between Ketu and Rahu and as above condition.

Horoscope with any of the above said conditions is said to have KSY.

After a lot of study and analyse, the natives with Kalasarpa Yoga do not have to fear dire consequences, since the negative effects of this yoga have been hyped.
KSY gives good effects depending on the position of planets.  It can confer High Status, Financial Prosperity and Luxuries.

Dr. B.V Raman, in his book of "Three Hundred Important Combinations" has requested the general public to change their perspective towards this yoga and relax their mindsets and not to fall prey to faulty astrologers who inculcate fear into their clients and force them pay large sums of money towards performing poojas and homas.

To conclude, let us put it this way, "there is no such yoga, and still if there is one, it is not that negative".

Muhurtha or Election of auspicious time for events

Muhurtha or Election of auspicious time for events

In each religion many celebrations like, marriage, naming ceremony, constructing a new house, house warming, etc, are celebrated.

In Vedic astrology, the practice of finding out a good Muhurtha, i.e. to find an auspicious time for performing a particular function or rite.

Shodashasamskaras or the 16 major celebrations are divided into two categories.

1.    Prenatal ceremonies
2.    Postnatal ceremonies

Prenatal Ceremonies :-

Garbhadana, Pumsavana or Seemanthonnayana
Postnalal Ceremonies :
Namakarana (Naming ceremony), Annaprashna (feeding the first morsel of rice), Karnabedha (Ear boring), Chowla (first tonsure), Upanayana (Brahmopadesha), Kalyana (Marriage), etc.

All these pertain to an individual person from the date of being conceived and till the date of death.

Other auspicious functions for which Muhurtha is required is for :-

1.    Buying and Selling property
2.    Construction of House
3.    Digging Wells
4.    Travel
5.    Partnerships
6.    Starting  a Business

Depending of the individuals nakshatra and the position of ascendant, muhurthas are nominated.  In short this is the thoughest part in astrology.  It is said that Brahma himself cannot fix a perfect muhurtha since too many factors are involved, like seeing the Rahu kalas, Panchaka shuddhi, Ashthama shuddhi, Lagna shuddhi and so on.  In total we have to derive clarity on 21 doshas (Ekavimshati Dosha).

Starting from finding the simpler Tara bala (Strength of birth star) for that day, to the combinations of planets that occur in the muhurtha chart, the task spans a lot number of manual hours.

Medical Astrology

Medical Astrology

As the saying goes :- " A healty body  - a health mind"

Health is the most important factor in everyone's life. We not only depend on our health to perform our day-to-day duties, but we also will be strong enough emotionally to think and comprehend situations we face.

Devoid of health a person becomes incapable of handling situations.

There are five major entities which have to be studied in detail to judge a person's health.

Physical, Emotional, Psychological, Spiritual and Intellectual entitiesThe above five entities if in balance make a person function well.

Medical Astrology is a branch of Scientific Astrology which deals from Diagnosis to Cure, including Diet, Yoga and Pranayama too.

A six prong study is done for each horoscope to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of a person. The tendencies of illnesses can be analyzed along with its intensity and time of occurrence.

The planetary combinations of a horoscope will be subjected to parameters which have been designed after years of indepth research in particular areas of illnesses.

1. Diagnosis : To ascertain the disease/ailment through in depth study of karaka's, the amsa charts and the drekkana. To find the intensity of ailment and the timing when the disease would have set in.

2. Cause : To know the root cause of the problem.

3. Effect : To analyse all the side effects and their multiple consequences on the native's life.

4. Cure : To study what type of remedial medication is more suitable depending on planetary position.  Whether the native has to be treated through English medicine, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Siddha, Alternative medical treatment and theraphy.

5. Diet : Clarity on what type of food is required of a given person depending on his health status and the capacity to digest.

6. Yoga and Pranayama : Whether Yogic therapy will suit and what type of asana's (postures) can be done. Type of pranayama which is useful for faster recovery.
