events
In each religion many celebrations like,
marriage, naming ceremony, constructing a new house, house warming, etc, are
celebrated.
In Vedic astrology, the practice of finding out
a good Muhurtha, i.e. to find an auspicious time for performing a particular
function or rite.
Shodashasamskaras or the 16 major celebrations
are divided into two categories.
1. Prenatal ceremonies
2. Postnatal ceremonies
Prenatal Ceremonies :-
Garbhadana, Pumsavana or Seemanthonnayana
Postnalal Ceremonies :
Namakarana (Naming ceremony), Annaprashna
(feeding the first morsel of rice), Karnabedha (Ear boring), Chowla (first
tonsure), Upanayana (Brahmopadesha), Kalyana (Marriage), etc.
All these pertain to an individual person from
the date of being conceived and till the date of death.
Other auspicious functions for which Muhurtha
is required is for :-
1. Buying and Selling property
2. Construction of House
3. Digging Wells
4. Travel
5. Partnerships
6. Starting a Business
Depending of the individuals nakshatra and the
position of ascendant, muhurthas are nominated. In short this is the
thoughest part in astrology. It is said that Brahma himself cannot
fix a perfect muhurtha since too many factors are involved, like seeing the
Rahu kalas, Panchaka shuddhi, Ashthama shuddhi, Lagna shuddhi and so on. In
total we have to derive clarity on 21 doshas (Ekavimshati Dosha).
Starting from finding the simpler Tara bala
(Strength of birth star) for that day, to the combinations of planets that
occur in the muhurtha chart, the task spans a lot number of manual hours.
